We've been considering our vision at the accounting firm where I work - J.D. Gilbert & Company, CPAs. What is our intended objective and strategic direction? What kind of world do we want to operate in? Where do we see ourselves in the future? Of course we provide nuts and bolts accounting services, but like most firms, we also have niches and specialties. But what do we want our clients to ultimately get out of the services we provide, and what kind of environment do we want to foster for the employees?
I can't help but notice that while Vision Statements are used primarily in business, my husband and I ask ourselves these same questions of our own family. We are constantly assessing and reassessing our goals and directions. These assessments are rarely made formally, but rather when we hit a bump in the road, or run into opportunities that we weren't expecting.
My life, both professionally and personally, has been mostly syncopated. Life has taught me that expected events don't always occur, and that many life changing events are unexpected! I've learned to love and embrace syncopation; that unexpected beat; accents where they normally wouldn't occur. I hope that in interactions with me, others will enjoy a level of service and commitment, in business and in life, that is unexpected.
Thus, I introduce to you my blog, SYNCOPATION!
